PianoFight

PianoFight’s mission is to present and produce new work by new and local artists. We do that in two ways: first by creating low-barrier-to-entry performance opportunities that encourage locals with little to no experience to get involved in the creation of live performance; and second by operating two theaters and a music stage, where we provide infrastructure and support at affordable rates to local artists, producers, companies and nonprofits like Code Tenderloin, Killing My Lobster, Awesome Theater, The SF Neo-Futurists, and Faultline Theater to name a few.

We provide space and infrastructure to hundreds of artists, who create and stage 1,500 performances for over 50,000 audience members each year. During the day, we are the home base for the offices and classrooms of community non-profits like Tenderloin Walking Tours and Code Tenderloin which runs a job-readiness program for TL residents. Every burger you buy, drink you sip and show you see helps keep a community-centric creative space vibrant and thriving.

In 2020, PianoFight launched PianoFight Oakland in what was The Flight Deck on Broadway with generous support from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Kenneth Rainin Foundation and the Zellerbach Family Foundation.
