The North Coast Project is committed to bringing people together across the arts and environmental disciplines to do their best creative thinking, share ideas, and ultimately build the future we need. The North Coast Project retreat series strives to create the ideal conditions for creative thinking and to break down silos in environmental and artistic networks through a cross-disciplinary approach. Ultimately, we aim to inspire fresh artistic expression and scientific epiphany—to unlock new ideas, relationships, and lasting outcomes. We believe it’s vital to have artists alongside environmentalists, not in service to their work but as sources of mutual inspiration. When this much is at stake, it is a necessary, political, imperative task for us to build and create. To write or paint or take a contemplative walk in nature isn’t an abdication; it’s a reminder of what this is all for. By putting the right people in the right conditions, we will be incubating the world we want, a world that holds art as a core value and knows that environmentalism must suffuse everything we do. Because by protecting our planet we are protecting the best of human expression.
